Arduino uno and windows 10

I'm having trouble loading programs with Windows 10 and Arduino IDE using an Arduino Uno... maybe you can help me out with what I'm doing wrong...please...

1.8.7...do i need to downgrade to 1.5.7?

You need 1.5.7 (as explained in the programming tutorial), but you can have it as a portable installation, see here:

It's a simple process and you can keep the IDE in its own folder, without interfering with other versions.
